Steven Heine Dharma talk on Dim Sum and Buddha nature

On Monday evening, March 30, our guest speaker will be Steven Heine, one of the most eminent American scholars of both Dogen and of the Koan Tradition. Dr. Heine has published many fine books on related topics, including Dogen and the Koan Tradition; Did Dogen Go to China: What He Wrote and When He Wrote It; and Shifting Shape Shaping Text: Philosophy and Folklore in the Fox Koan. Heine's new book is Bargainin' for Salvation: Bob Dylan Zen Master?, not about Dogen but about a great American Dharma bard.

His talk at Ancient Dragon Zen Gate will be "Does Dim Sum have Buddha nature?" concerning a koan about the Chan master Deshan asking for refreshment and the Zen granny who pointed to the Mind.
