Ancient Dragon Zen Gate will hold two special events to celebrate the New Year 2011.
Friday December 31st, 2010 from 8:15 pm 'til after midnight
Our very special New Year's Eve meditation and ceremony, the first to be held in our new temple, will begin with sitting meditation (zazen) at 8:30 pm with a New Year's Ceremony at 9:00 pm. At 9:45 pm, we will resume meditation until midnight when we will welcome the New Year in the traditional Japanese way by striking the temple bell 108 times. Afterward, we will enjoy refreshments, including soba noodles! Temple doors open at 8:15 pm and everyone is welcome to join or depart at any time. There is no registration or fee and any donation is welcome.
Sunday January 2, 2011 from 7:45 am to 1 pm
Registration is required for participation in this half-day retreat. Rev. Hogetsu Laurie Belzer will give the Dharma talk. Suggested donation: $35 (sliding scale available). Lunch provided. Free parking is usually available on nearby cross-streets. Please contact [email protected] or (773) 899-3841 to register, or for more information.
