Half-Day Sitting followed by Lay Ordination (Jukai) at Ancient Dragon Zen Gate

Ancient Dragon Zen Gate dragon logo Ancient Dragon Zen Gate will hold a half-day meditation retreat on Sunday, June 19th, from 7:30 am to 1:30 pm. The half-day meditation retreat will be followed by a lay ordination (jukai) ceremony, which will begin at 3 pm. This ceremony is an initiation into the practice of the sixteen Bodhisattva Precepts for lay practitioners. During the ceremony, initiates receive the Precepts and a rakusu from a lineage-holding Teacher, along with kechimyaku, Zen lineage papers.

The lay ordination ceremony at 3 pm is open to the public and everyone is welcome to join us for this special occasion.

A vegetarian lunch, eaten together silently in the zendo, is included in the half-day meditation retreat.

PUBLIC WELCOME to the regular zazen period at 9:20 am, and Dharma talk at 10:15 am, even if you are not attending the all-day sitting. There will be no meditation instruction class Sunday morning, June 19th.

Ancient Dragon Zen Gate is located at 1922 W. Irving Park Road, Chicago, near Damen Avenue and the Irving Park Brown Line station. Free parking is usually available on nearby cross-streets.
