Shohaku Okumura teaches on Realizing Genjokoan

Photo of Shohaku Okumura Shohaku Okumura, one of the foremost American Zen teachers and scholars of Dōgen, will give a weekend teaching at Ancient Dragon Zen Gate on Friday & Saturday, March 25 & 26, from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm (these are all-day teachings).

Participation is by advance registration only, with limited seating. Please register early. Suggested donation is $75 per day; sliding scale available. Participants provide their own lunch. It is possible to register for Friday, Saturday, or both; e-mail [email protected].

Shohaku will also give the Sunday morning Dharma talk on March 27, 10:15 am, with usual schedule, zazen starting 8:40 am, no pre-registration required.

Shohaku Okumura Roshi, leader of the Sanshin Zen Community based in Bloomington, Indiana, will speak on Dōgen's vital writing, Genjōkōan, based on Shohaku's excellent new book, Realizing Genjōkōan. Shohaku and ADZG Dharma teacher Taigen Dan Leighton have collaborated on three books of Dōgen translations: Dōgen's Extensive Record; The Wholehearted Way; and Dōgen's Pure Standards for the Zen Community.
