Meditation and Dharma talk at the Smart Museum of Art

Special Exhibit: Echoes of the Past: The Buddhist Cave Temples of Xiangtangshan. Please note: this event takes place at the Smart Museum, 5550 S. Greenwood Avenue, Hyde Park

Magnificent 6th-century Buddhist sculptures combined with cutting-edge 3-D scanning technologies show the remarkable story of China's Xiangtangshan caves in Echoes of the Past. Join us at the Smart Museum for meditation amid the ancient Buddhas on Wednesday January 5. Please arrive by 5:25 pm (meditation instruction available at 5 pm). Taigen Dan Leighton will give a Dharma talk about the exhibit images at 6 pm.

Taigen Dan Leighton, Ancient Dragon Zen Gate guiding Dharma teacher, is co-translator of Dogen's Extensive Record and authored Faces of Compassion: Classic Bodhisattva Archetypes and Their Modern Expression. He is a scholar of East Asian Buddhist imagery, and teaches Buddhism and East Asian Religion at Loyola University Chicago.
