Everyone Has a Light: Buddha-nature in Zen Teachings and Our Lives

Dharma talk by guest teacher Charlie Pokorny, Sunday, June 30, 10:10am following 9:30 zazen

Korin Charlie Pokorny was born in Chicago. He was ordained as a priest by Reb Anderson in 1999. He practiced as a resident at Tassajara and Green Gulch Farm for 12 years, including serving as tenzo and director at Tassajara. He holds a master's degree from Stanford University in Religious Studies, teaches at the Institute of Buddhist Studies in Berkeley, and brings a breadth of perspective on the direction that Soto Zen is taking in the world today through his position as director of the Soto Zen Buddhist Association. He currently resides with his family in Sebastopol, California.

He and his wife Rev. Sarah Emerson, who will also be joining us Sunday, have been named as head priests of Stone Creek Zen Center in Sebastopol. Previous head teacher Jisho Warner will continue as abiding teacher at Stone Creek.
