Call & Response: Chanting in a Troubled World

This talk will explore the role of chanting in our Zen practice and the ways in which chanting can help us connect to one another and be of benefit to the world.

Tova Green, a Zen priest ordained by Eijun Linda Cutts, lives and practices at San Francisco Zen Center's City Center. She serves as Zen Center's Vice-President and as a practice leader. Tova is a member of SFZC's Cultural Awareness and Inclusivity Committee and co-founded Zen Center's Queer Dharma group. She was an activist in the 60's and studied with Joanna Macy to lead Despair and Empowerment workshops in the 80's around the world. She also traveled with activist Fran Peavey to the former Yugoslavia, Australia and India to meet with environmental and peace activists.
