Anyone who wants to help us realize our aspiration can become a supporter of Ancient Dragon Zen Gate. Our livelihood depends on your support and participation.
By pledging a monthly donation of any amount, monthly supporters are entitled to regular dokusan with Taigen, to vote in sangha meetings, to elect (and serve on) our board of directors, and to help determine the direction of our sangha and the means of expressing our ideals.
Most importantly, supporters know that their regular contribution ensures a basic and reliable income for our teacher, Taigen Leighton, and enables us to bring the practice of Suzuki Roshi and Dogen Zenji to our community.
In this way, all of us, regardless of our talents or training, are teaching the Dharma together.
We also encourage long distance supporters who live outside of the Chicago area to practice with us during sesshins, Monday night sittings, seminars, and other special events. Long distance supporters may contribute to Ancient Dragon Zen Gate through an annual donation, which can be sent to the address to the left.
We welcome and are grateful for those who wish to make one-time donations as well.
Any amount, given monthly, is a valuable contribution. As you reflect on what you can afford, we ask monthly supporters to consider pledging an amount equal to one hour's salary a week ($60 a month for someone who makes $30,000 a year).
We know that this practice benefits many beings amid the difficulties of our world, not always in obvious ways. We invite everyone who is interested in Soto Zen practice to join us.
Whatever you decide to contribute, we know that generosity is a matter of heart, not income. Please share this heartfelt practice with us in any way you can.
