Treasurer Reports

  • Financial operations are going through Chase account now, Citibank account will be closed out next week
  • “Other donations” were for the Branching Streams conference registration. The money collected under “Other donations” was paid out to cover Branching Streams conference expenses
  • Monthly supporters now account for 35% of ADZG monthly income

Financials Update 

  • We continue to segue to Zeffy
  • At some point, the 62 monthly supporters will need to switch to Zeffy

Guiding Teacher Report

  • A lot has been happening at ADZG
  • Guest teachers, Branching Streams Conference
  • Kudos to Douglas and Howard who worked on the conference
  • Sesshin since the last Board meeting
  • Ben Connelly’s program as a guest teacher was well attended
  • Sejiki went well, landmark event for ADZG
  • Ceremonial events are coming up
  • Reuben’s priest ordination ceremony November 23, 2025 @ 2 PM
  • Taigen is giving seminars 
  • Other guest teachers planning on coming to ADZG

Fundraising Update 

  • Overall, current monthly supporters pledged an increase of $170/month, $2,040/year
  • New monthly supporters increased $540/month, $6,480 per year
  • Total yearly increase in monthly support to $9,520 per year
  • 2025 YEAA Campaign Roadmap
  • Goal for this year is to raise $50K
  • ADZG is entering its 20th year. Hogetsu is working with a consultant to envision goals for 5, 10, 20 years forward for ADZG
  • Mailing party to be scheduled after the Sangha Meeting and potluck November 16
  • Reaching out to past large donors, ask about matching donations
  • Will Robertson has already made a $15K matching donation to ADZG.  This will be reflected in the November 2025 financial statements

Sangha Meeting on November 16th 

  • Give a recap on the year, how practice is going, Branching Streams Conference, etc
  • Introduce the “Visioning” project for planning for the future in light of 2026 being our 20th anniversary year
  • Paula plans to introduce the slate of Board candidates

Board Elections

  • The Board typically has nine directors
  • Reuben’s current term ends on December 31st, 2025. 
  • Paula is currently filling two seats, so this would open one additional seat
  • Hoping to fill two Director seats in the next election
  • Introduce the slate of Board candidates at Sangha Meeting
  • Open floor at Sangha Meeting to solicit nominations from other people who might want to run for the Board
  • Ballots will be sent out to monthly, quarterly and annual supporters on December 1st. Results will be announced on Sunday,  December 14th.

Finance Committee 

  • Peter Nicholson has joined the committee, now serving with David Doerksen
  • Their responsibilities are: 
    • Quarterly objective review of financials 
    • Financial planning for future expansion – for exp. acquiring a property or holding events offsite – that may require more thorough financial planning before making a decision

Fundraising Committee

  • ADZG Board of Directors are the committee members for now
  • Paula will continue to ask Sangha members to serve 

  Promotions Committee 

  • Posting three times per week on Facebook
  • Occasionally posting about non-ADZG activities
  • For ex, sharing from Shohaku Okumura’s latest translation
  • Trying to vary postings, keep it interesting, and not to lose followers
  • How do new people hear about us? 
    • There is a question on the sign-in sheet asking how new people found us
  • Hogetsu talks to new folks in person to find out how they found ADZG
  • Most people say they found ADZG online, through a Google search or social media post

Hospitality and Sangha Care Committee 

  • Gerrie has volunteered and is now serving on the HSCC Committee
  • She has been extremely helpful as she has continual contact with Sangha members and related affairs
  • Hogetsu continues to be very helpful in informing Chris of Sangha care needs, people who have health issues, life events taking place, etc.

Technology Committee 

  • Bump in site traffic occurred recently, probably from Branching Streams conference
  • Otherwise, trends have been stable
