Origami Peace Crane String-along: Virtual Event

Sunday July 12, 2020 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

All are welcome to join us in the ADZG Online Zendo for a paper crane string-along event.

Drop in anytime from 3:00 to 5:00 pm to the ADZG ONLINE ZENDO via Zoom to string paper cranes (tsuru)  into banners.   For the past year, a group of us, as part of a national effort initiated by Tsuru for Solidarity, have been folding cranes to draw linkages between the internment of Japanese-Americans during World War II and the detainment of asylum-seekers here in the U.S. Recently, our work has broadened to include incarceration in general.  Now, we need to string the cranes into banners  to prepare the cranes for “activation” to participate in future actions supporting  liberation from detention and incarceration.

For this “string-along”, we’ll make banners of fifty cranes, then, during a September event, deliver these banners as part of a socially-distanced ceremony and procession. Again, this is a Zoom event – all materials, including cranes, needles, strings and tags may be picked up or possibly delivered prior to the event.

Simply email Hogetsu at info@ancientdragon.org to arrange pick-up/delivery fo cranes prior to the event..

May all beings be free from detention and oppression!
