The Work that Reconnects Workshop

Saturday March 18, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 4:30 pm

$50

Matt Streit will facilitate an online “Work That Reconnects” workshop on Saturday, March 18th from 1:00-4:30pm.  The “Work That Reconnects” was founded by Joanna Macy and her group of volunteers to help people deal with anxiety, despair, and overwhelm when facing our world’s environmental crisis.  This online workshop will be interactive and participants will engage with others and activities focusing on gratitude, honoring our pain, seeing with new eyes, and going forth.  Be prepared to interact with other participants and to bring your full self to this workshop. Taigen will attend as Joanna Macy is an old mentor and friend of his. Suggested donation is $50, but all our events are sliding scale for everyone. All proceeds of this benefit event will go to the Ancient Dragon Building Fund. We hope you can attend!

The “Work That Reconnects” is the latest iteration of Joanna Macy’s five decades of activism.  Joanna is the author of twelve books and is the root teacher of the “Work That Reconnects.”  You can find out more about Joanna Macy and the Work That Reconnects (WTR) network at https://workthatreconnects.org.

This online Ancient Dragon workshop will be structured around the WTR Spiral of Gratitude, Honoring our Pain for the World, Seeing with New/Ancient Eyes, and Going Forth.  In the Gratitude portion, participants will meet with another participant in a breakout room for an Open Sentences activity.  In the Honoring our Pain portion, the entire group will participate in a Truth Mandala.  In the Seeing with New/Ancient Eyes portion, the entire group will make masks and participate in a Council of All Beings.  In the final portion, Going Forth, participants will bridge the experiences of the workshop with their resuming daily lives.

Matt Streit is a certified Work That Reconnects facilitator and is also a priest-in-training at the Minnesota Zen Meditation Center. Matt has taught middle school for Minneapolis Public Schools for the past fourteen years.  He lives in Minneapolis and has two children, one in 4th grade and one in 6th grade.
