Lotus Sutra – Chapter 25 Study Group led by Shudo Paula Lazarz

Sunday December 19, 2021 @ 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

This study group will meet three times and is limited to 10 people. Led by Shudo Paula Lazarz, 3:30-5 pm on ADZG Zoom.

We will take a closer look at:

Lotus Sutra Chapter 25
The Universal Gateway of the Bodhisattva “Regarder Of The Cries Of The World”

The Bodhisattva of Compassion, called Avalokiteshvara in Sanskrit, Guanyin in Chinese and Kannon in Japanese, is an archetypal figure that represents compassion manifesting in all realities. This figure can appear as male, female or androgynous,  according to the cry they hear and what might most skillfully work for any given specific situation.

The Lotus Sutra, Chapter 25 explores different metaphorical situations on how one may be protected from harm by calling on this bodhisattva.  As we look at the text, we will also ask:

  • How do we develop compassion?
  • How does it protect us from harm?
  • How does it practically manifest in our world?

We will use the Gene Reeves translation of the Lotus Sutra.  The text of Chapter 25 will be provided to those who don’t own the book.

Shudo Paula Lazarz will serve as facilitator.

Other dates are:

  • Sunday, November 28th
  • Sunday, December 12th

Suggested donation is: $50  Sliding scale available upon request.

You may register below.  This event is only being held online.
